Born in 1987, Florian Cauquil started his musical journey at the age of four at the Conservatoire of Perpignan with harpsichord and discovered percussion at age nine with his first teacher Philippe Spiesser. In 2006 he entered the CNSM de Paris in the class of Michel Cerruti and received his bachelor and master degrees in 2009 and 2011. 


Particularly interested in the timpani, he worked with Markus Rhoten, Benoit Cambreling and began a postgraduate degree at the HMT of Munich with Raymond Curfs.

He also became a member of several youth orchestras around the world (GMJO, EUYO, Lucerne Festival Academy) and worked alongside prestigious conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Daniele Gatti, andSir Colin Davis.

He is invited as freelance timpanist with the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de France and The Opera National de Paris.

Since 2013, Florian Cauquil has been Principal Timpanist of the Orchestre National d’Ile de France.
